Participation of Faculty of Engineering Lecturers in the “KIAT” Programme

A lecturer is not only required to transform his knowledge to students, but also to carry out the tridharma of higher education as a whole, namely Education and Teaching, Research and Development, and Community Service.

For this reason, in accordance with the tridharma of higher education and in order to support the KIAT Program (Indonesia Australia Partnership for Infrastructure) on Monday (21/08/2023), Inclusive Waste Recycling Training was held together with residents of 23 -24 Ilir Village, Palembang City at the PERINTIS Office of the Palembang KIAT Community Training and Demonstration Centre.

This training has entered the 23rd batch which is a continuation of a continuous training programme for the people of Palembang city. The resource person for this programme was Dr. Ir. Neny Rochyani, MT, IPM, ASEAN. Eng., who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, PGRI University Palembang and a practitioner and environmentalist as well as a consultant and facilitator for the Indonesia – Australia Partnership for Infrastructure programme. The training focused on information about KIAT’s main programme, “Construction of Piped Facilities for Household Sanitation / WWTP” for the community with one of the supporting elements being the processing of household organic waste using Eco Enzyme technology which has been proven to have a positive impact on the household and community environment.

In the training, in addition to the presentation, practice was also carried out. The practice, led by Neny Rochyani, ran smoothly and enthusiastically by the participants. Of course, this will provide benefits, increase motivation and knowledge so that the trainees are able to directly apply organic waste processing in the community.
